After 10 months of living in Alabama, getting settled just to get unsettled again and prepare for our upcoming move BACK to Kansas (officially 2 weeks away!! I'm coming for ya, Kansas City!) I got to have some fun with my camera and some friends. Our sweet babysitter, Dorie, asked me to do her senior photos and I was thrilled! Her mom, Charity, is Benjamin's Pre-K teacher and is simply the best, so she invited us all out to romp around their farm/property while I took Dorie's photos. I mean does it get any better getting to take photos while your kids are busy holding baby chicks and hanging out with a host of farm animals? Obviously, no it does not get any better than that. Auggie (Dorie's dog) was an absolute ham. Can all of my high school seniors have awesome dogs to accompany us? Rosie (Dorie's horse) was just so beautiful; it probably doesn't take long to figure out that Dorie is a complete animal lover and totally in her element on the farm. She called herself a "bougie redneck" because she's a farm girl that likes to dress up--I will forever remember that unique phrase now. ;)

The pictures above might be my favorite set of the entire session, although I truly love all of them. Does it get any more Magnolia/Joanna Gaines than this?? When I first viewed these in Lightroom after our session my jaw actually dropped and I gasped! Dramatic? Yes. Justified? Also yes. It was also here that I got to meet Dorie's Grandma and Grandpa, who live on the property as well. Through and through the sweetest family. And what a blessing to be able to have such a close-knit family all in the same space!

Dorie told me that this Ford truck was the truck her Dad drove when he was her age so naturally it was going to be one of our main "props." This may have been my first time ever using a truck/vehicle in a senior session but I LOVED it and feel like it added such a special touch to her photographs, even more so because it was sentimental to her and their family.

I enjoyed this session so much and it re-ignited my love of photography after a quiet season of simply documenting my own personal life (which was a sweet opportunity as well). And by quiet I don't mean actually quiet because, well...3 little boys. Need I say more?


Dorie has a heart on fire for the Lord and it shows in her caring and generous nature. She is heading out on a summer-long mission trip to Mexico and I just KNOW she is going to do great things with her life and bless others along the way, just as she has blessed us. <3
